We have some fantastic sports in North Yorkshire, but you don’t need me to tell you where to go Welly Wanging… that’s one you can do at home!

Clay Pigeon Shooting

If you’re a total beginner and fancy having a go, most places are happy to teach you – check out some of the centres below. We haven’t tried them all, we go to East Yorkshire Clay Shooting Ground and they are very good).

Open Water Swimming

There are lots of rivers and open water areas near here, there are often swimmers on a sunny day in most open water, in particular by Kirkham Priory – however ‘official’ sites for open water swimming are listed below!

North Yorkshire Off Road Centre (4X4)

Described by some as “one of the toughest off road test tracks in the UK” you’ll be able to choose your vehicle and have a go at a range of obstacles on their private hillside and quarry on the cliff top near Robin Hoods Bay.

Horse racing

Point to Points

If you’re not familiar, a point to point is a more informal race (the vibe) and is typically over fences for hunting horses and amateur riders. Typically held at specialist point to point racecourses throughout the year.
